Ages of Alpha Magenta

Eon of Realm Wanderers

  • The history of the Realm Wanderers stretches back 10,000 years to a time of which very little is known. More is known of their offspring, the current Gods and Goddesses of Ylécium. Fables claim that Niveen, the Goddess of Water, was captivated by the beauty of a gigantic white pearl, resting at the bottom of the ocean. The pure-white shine of the pearl resembled the ice Niveen spews from her tentacles. She left the celestial realm and the other Gods behind to make the sea her home.

She is believed to still cradle the pearl somewhere in the deepest ocean.

Era of Destruction

  • In the northwestern most section of Alpha Magenta, ancient Stone Trolls were found to live on the large island, known as, The Savaged Barrens. If anyone today dared to venture beyond the mountain pass leading to the interior part of the island, they would likely discover that Stone Trolls are still very much present there.

  • However, before coming face to face with one of these large creatures, one would need to pass by the magical guardians, formed as massive statues on either side of the mountain pass, placed there by the mages in a lost time, to keep the unaware traveler from entering. Knowledge of how the guardians operate, has been washed away, like a sandcastle build to close to the oncoming tide, yet, reports occasionally surface of adult Stone Trolls standing almost ten feet tall.

The trolls are supposed to be rather clumsy though, and intelligence, isn’t one of their strong suits. However, they do have an innate magic resistance; strong enough for even a young troll to, supposedly, be able to shield an entire group of people if they can get close enough. There are those who claim, that an adult will protect an entire village against magic, if the troll is nearby. The Stone Troll is a difficult creature to control, and seem to be occupied by nothing more than their voracious appetites.

The Era of Destruction is a time of legends, speaking of how the Oracryst Cube was created by Eyere, the God of Magic, or possibly even the Realm Wanderers themselves. This indestructible crystal ball, a heavy lift for a grown man, was supposed to have been a gift to the Gods, allowing them to sustain themselves – not draining all of their powers – during a long-term visit to the physical realm of Alpha Magenta.

Yet, and while this point in Alpha Magenta history could have earned its name from the founding of the Elven Assassins Guild, it’s in truth, and to the dismay of the elves, best known for how the White Elves fought a devastating war against the Ember Dwarves, led by Oko the Despoiler, the first Wielder of Wrath.

 Epoch of the Magi

  • Upon the discovery of aqualunite and how to use it as a propellant, the beginnings of the Kingdom of Redron was formed. The city of Three Rivers served as its capital. The former subordinate people of Redron quickly rose to power and became the most technological advanced nation in Alpha Magenta. Being in tune with nature, the Sylpham have ever since felt animosity towards the Kingdom of Redron; viewing them as power-hungry. Blame was placed quickly on Redron when the spiritual leader of the Sylpham was assassinated. However, the world-renowned Master Assassin, Askol Tizri, was operating at the time. It’s more likely that he was behind the killing of several members of the Mage High Council and potentially many others. Later investigations lead to the conclusion that those Arch Mages were involved in a plot to free Otano, The Goddess of Torture and Wind, only a few decades after the deity had been captured.

  • Shortly after, the deadly sands of the Restless Expanse blew north, causing a massacre of thousands of citizens in cities as far as Amazal. Perhaps it was an act of revenge, orchestrated by Otano, but no conclusive evidence was ever uncovered.

Towards the end of the Epoch of Magi, Lacah became the second Wielder of Wrath, but was ultimately entombed in an icy grave by the mages.

Age of Revelation

  • Centuries after discovering how to mine aqualunite from the red-colored desert sand of the Restless Expanse where the winds blow like the heatwave of a furnace, the Kingdom of Redron built the city of Sandom. Elevated and stretching out across the desert floor, they made Sandom their new capital in place of Three Rivers. The deadly aqualunite crystal prompted a possible, yet unexpected, alliance between man and the Ember Dwarves. However, King Warnero of Redron died shortly after negotiating with the dangerous dwarves a shipment of custom-made boots, designed to protect workers from the deadly crystals.

  • A decade later and running low on the stock of mining boots, King Jerama had no choice but to follow in his father’s footsteps. He contacted the Ember Dwarves to broker another deal. Negotiations were conducted with the famed dwarven tribal leader, Bescu. While King Jerama managed to get ten thousand brand-new boots delivered to Sandom, he also seems to have lost his mind. As of late, he has been acting like a madman, with no regard to the subjects he rules over. Doctors are doing everything in their power to locate and cure the cause for King Jerama’s sudden cruelty. They are yet to succeed.

King Jerama might behave strangely, but people in Magiana only pray that the yearly recharge of The Vault will come with no surprises. Earthquakes are a known consequence of recharging Otano’s prison, but none has been so terrible as the one occurring on what was later named the Day of Cries.

Scores of innocent people died on the Day of Cries, falling into gorges and cracks as they opened in the ground as it opened beneath their feet, swallowing them without warning. Ever since, the general public has been sceptical of the mages, not realizing the cause was they are keeping a goddess imprisoned. The heart of the Age of Revelation beats with change.
