Banished Realm

This realm is a vast, expansive steppe world. One can wander for months, if not years, without ever meeting anyone. This is partially because the inhabitants are often on the move to follow the rains across the wide grass plains.

During the rainy season, clear streams run through the green hillsides, feeding swampy pools of moss. These flow into shallow, seasonal lakes that become desert dust bowls during the dry months. Only a few deep lakes exist the survive the long dry periods, which have been known to dry up even major rivers.

At the poles and the highest rolling mountains, cold weather requires tents insulated with felted wool or packed strands of grass. Braided grass “logs” as well as dried animal dung are burnt for warmth and cooking.

Shallow and very salty seas break up this largely land mass heavy realm. Storms blowing from these warm “oceans” can rip across the land, spawning violent tornados and lightning that lights the dry grasses.
